Buying a home in Brinnon.

Brinnon is an unincorporated community of roughly nine hundred people on the western shore of Hood Canal, with the Olympic Mountains rising behind it and US 101 running through it.

Road access is that one highway. The state parks, the kayaking and the quiet are the reason people come, and the limited access is the thing they underestimate.

It draws two kinds of buyer: people looking for a retirement or second home on the water, and people who want acreage and genuinely do not mind the drive.

Who it suits

Waterfront and recreation buyers, retirees, and remote workers who have already solved their internet.

Who it does not

Anyone who needs a daily commute, same-day services, or reliable delivery. This is a different kind of living, not a cheaper version of the same one.

Check these before you write an offer

  1. Verify internet service at the address, not the area

Coverage changes property to property out here. Get the answer for the parcel before you write.

  2. Have shoreline and bank assessed on anything waterfront

Tidelands, bulkheads and erosion are all inspectable, and all of them carry rules about what you may do later.

  3. Ask about well, septic and the winter road

There is no city utility to fall back on. Ask who maintains the access road when it snows.
